Foundations readyThe month of May 2006 is almost history and the build is now well underway. Foundations have been completed, the first part of the kit is on site and the joiners are busy erecting it.

The foundations of the house with the concrete floor are poured and ready. The pipework for drainage is clearly visible. The kit was delivered on site by SkyeHomes as agreed. The blue cloth is the insolation material which sits between the wooden panels and the outer stone walls. Delivery of the kit was a smooth process.

The roof trusses over the central rectangular shape of the house are specifically constructed to support attic space. The original designs has been amended with two Velux windows to allow daylight inside the attic.

Some pictures taken after James has been two weeks on site. The trenches for the foundations have been dug and the concrete was poured. Next to the trenches the blocks have been piled. This is the point in the process where you think “Gosh, it’s way too small. We need to make this a lot bigger!!”… We had that as well. Jamie assured us that everything would be just fine…

As you can see there’s the old concrete mixer. No build site should be without one!
