Val was over today. I really like Val and I hope she saw me wiggle my tail. It was great to see her again. I made an effort not to jump up to her. Roger and Claire keep saying that people don’t like that at all. I wonder why….
The good thing of Val coming over is that Doodle could also be around!! I love Doodle! And… big surprise!! Doodle was around!!! We had a big romp on the croft, which was very good fun. But after a while I got really tired while Doodle was still bouncing around. She chased me up a bit with some barking and we had another romp. Then I was really flat out… I mean, I’m only still a small dog…
Roger was a bit cross with me as I was too wild at times. I agree, I sometimes get carried away during play but I really mean no harm so I hope Val wasn’t too cross with me…

Today started off really bad. I had to go into that awful car crate again. I liked the car much better when Claire was with me on the backseat. We drove around for a while and got to this place that seemed vaguely familiar. I think Roger and Claire call it the “vets”. We walked about for a bit and then we went into this small room with loads of people in it. There was even another dog! I was afraid at first and Roger had to carry me in. He said I was acting like a baby… But once we were in, it was great!! The girl behind the desk weighed me and said I was 12 kilos. She called me a monster!! There were other people as well and I gave them a tail wiggle and tried my paw-trick on them. They seemed impressed!
After a little wait we were allowed into another room. Roger lifted me onto this big table. The man - I think he’s the one they call the “vets” - was very nice to me. Roger said I was to be micro chipped. I don’t know what that means but the man brought a huge needle and stung me between the shoulder blades. I was a big boy and did not whimper! Once it was done Roger said I was “the Borg” and “resistance is futile”. I could not understand a word he said but he seemed rather pleased and made funny noises with his mouth. It was all good fun and when we left there was this older dog coming in. We had a meet and greet but she wasn’t very playful. On the way back I had to whine again as they put me into that awful crate…
Sea weed and crates

This morning we had a big family walk. I love family walks!! We went all the way to the shore! While going there I picked up all kinds of goodies: sheep droppings, mussels, crab shells, loads of mud, dead heather and sea weed. I love sea weed. It’s really slippery and when you jump into a big pile you can really put your teeth into it. I took a big string out of a big heap and try to bring it home but Roger did not agree with that. It was one of his Jingles-no-no’s…. pffff….
I saw a couple of other dogs in the distance as well but Claire said they are called sheep. I was a bit afraid of them as they were quite big and made very strange noises.
In the afternoon we went for a ride. I had to go in my new travel crate that had arrived in the morning. I hated that crate and whined all the way. Roger seemed annoyed and he now calls me a girly-boy.
Note to self: Ears look very funny when running…

Claire gave me a new toy today. It was all orange and looked quite funny. I had to inspect it first. So I threw it around a couple of times, sniffed it from all sides, tossed it in the air and gave it a firm bite. And then… ah… a piece came off!! And it tasted quite good!! So I decided to chew it. Claire complained a bit that I had made a mess. But I thought those orange chips looked quite cheerful, spread all around the kitchen. Then I ate all the little chips and they tasted very good. It was a good day again….
Doodle and me

Wow, what a party that was today! Suddenly Val and Jeni were over. I said hello with some massive tail wiggling and I got a big cuddle from both of them. I love Val and Jeni!! They said I had become a big boy! And then for the surprise… they had brought Doodle along to play!! That was really great!!!! She’s a furry girl with loads of long curly hair and she’s really, really fast and jumpy. We ran and jumped and rolled and nipped at each other and had a great time. After 15 minutes I started to get tired while Doodle still had loads of smart moves in her. She kept jumping over me, so I sometimes lost track of her and just fell over.
Jeni brought some lovely treats. I love treats!! She made us do some difficult tricks for them, although Doodle made it look easy. I always seem to get confused when there’s food around.
Roger said I wasn’t a gentlemen as I had some of Doodle curly locks hanging around my mouth. But I think Doodle was OK. Next time I will try to be a bit softer…. Hope she comes by again soon! Must sleep now… zzzzz…. zzzzz….
Bad boy

Yesterday Roger got really cross with me. I blowed a fuse when playing with Claire. I got so fired up that I nipped her hands, her trousers and even her feet. I was then put in the little hallway. I hate that space so I started to howl.
Unfortunately that did not help very much. They both ignored me completely. I hate being ignored so I decided to lie down and be quiet… After I while they let me out and I think Claire was very upset with me… I’ll try to be a better dog tomorrow…
Girlfriend

Today I met with Tan, the neighbors’ dog. Tan is a big girl already and very agile. We had a really fun time. We had a couple runs together, some really good licks and sniffs and I rolled over a couple of times to show Tan that my intentions are all good. I must admit, I’m not as quick as she is. I guess it’s because my paws are still a bit short and Tan also appears to be in the sheep business.
To show Tan that I’m not a softie at play, I nipped her ear. Then Tan nipped me at the flanks and we both rolled over. It was really good fun. Unfortunately we had to leave after a while. I really hope I can see Tan again so we can play some more. Maybe she can learn me some of those really cool moves she has….
Off the leash!

Today was a great day! First it stopped raining at about noon and then we all decided to go out for some playtime. And then I was off the leash and could run around the garden on my own. I really enjoyed that. To top this up, Claire brought a flying plastic plate.
I had a hard time catching it but gave it my best shot. It was really difficult to keep an eye on the thing and where I put my feet so I did some stumbling around. Claire took loads of photos and said I’m very handsome… After about an hour of playing around I really had to go inside and crash in my upgraded bed. I now got a very soft fleece under my blanket. Good stuff!!
PS: I look a bit worried on this picture, but that is because it took me while to figure out how to turn that plate around so I could grab it with my mouth…

I’ve been practicing a lot these days and now I can do an immaculate sit, a paw and a high five!! The “paw” and the “high five” were very difficult as I did not have a clue what Roger was talking about. But, I got the hang of it after two days. And then today he started another difficult one, called “down”. If he says it too often, I get really excited and need to jump around for a bit… I probably get the hang of it, one of these days.

Sunday we had visitors. I love visitors! I sniffed their feet and their hands and they smelled very doggie. I also figured out a new trick! I jump up to them with my front paws on their legs. I can then sniff them even better. I was really proud of myself for finding that out. Apparently Roger didn’t like that at all, as he made me lie down and spoke to me in his ah-ah voice.
The highlight of the afternoon was when the male visitor brought in two other dogs. Two girl dogs and they were really big!! But I wasn’t afraid of them and I decided to wiggle my tail to show them that should not be afraid of me either! We had a bit of sniffing and licking and then they went off again. I was really tired then and crashed on Roger’s old shoes for a big nap…
