Stardust
June 23, 2008
I watched that movie last night. Apart from being a very funny movie with a number of famous faces in it (O’Toole, De Niro, Pfeiffer) it had some cool special effects and some pretty scenery: it was filmed on Skye. I think I recognized the Quiraing and shots of the Cuillin. Enjoyed it. Especially the performance of De Niro was extremely funny. 4 out of 5.
Weather: lovely day, bright, sunny, moderate wind, no midges…

Got something to say?

Rogier,
That is spooky. We bought Stardust on Saturday from HMV and also watched it last night!!!!!
Were very impressed with the Skye locations although there was probably a lot of “blue screen effects”
The Quirang scenes were great (to think I walked where the lovely Ms pfieffer walked!! ) Although there certainly isn’t a wide path as in the film. (what would they do without cgi)
There is one scene shot at the Fairy Glen near Uig and we were amazed as we were only there a few weeks ago . It really is a weird and eerie place
Indeed spooooooky….. Probably lots of CGI but worth wile watching. I nearly peed my pants laughing at that scene where De Niro is doing his poofy dance while one of the brothers is sneaking up on him… Priceless!!!
Must admit it was Jean’s choice to buy it but I was impressed and De Niro and Ricky Gervais were excellent.
Went on abit of a splurge at HMV as their sale was on -also bought Apocolypto
Good choice… extremely graphic and realistic at times but a real good movie!
Sorry that went unfinished.
Apocolypto is brilliant and as good an adventure as I have seen in recent times, even if as per usual, with Mel Gibson, there is some historical truth bending .
Also bought Atonement and will watch that later in week.
Also bought Great British Journeys, the series that was on BBC last year. Not only is it very interesting, but two of the episodes have great footage of Skye.
Must compare DVD collections when we are on Skye.
regards
Rob
